Hall of Fame Weekend

Drew Brees will be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday, with teammates and coaches sharing tales about how his success came from everything except arm strength. Larry Fitzgerald, preparing to enter the Hall of Fame, explained he'll never retire from football or the Cardinals. Hall of Fame Game

Carson Beck completed 15 of 19 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown for a 125.4 rating in the Cardinals' 33-30 loss to the Panthers. Beck, who led Miami to the College Football Playoff final, made his NFL starting debut Thursday night in the Hall of Fame Game. Kedon Slovis' TD pass to Bryson Green lifted the Cardinals over the Panthers late in the contest.

Running Back Extensions

The Colts and Jonathan Taylor agreed to a two-year, $44 million extension, the star running back's agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Colts believe they can recapture their early-season success from 2025, but they couldn't do it without Taylor. Jahmyr Gibbs' record contract extension with the Lions raises questions about whether he's worth more than Bijan Robinson. Falcons running back Bijan Robinson said he has spoken with Gibbs about contract negotiations, as both began camp holding in. Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Matthew Bergeron have extensions, but the Falcons don't have a QB1 yet. Matthew McConaughey was the first person to get in touch with Robinson after his new extension, within just minutes.

More Extensions and Signings

The Bears and Darnell Wright reached agreement on a historic four-year, $116 million extension with $93M guaranteed. The Texans and Henry To'oTo'o agreed to a two-year $16 million extension, sources told NFL Network. The Commanders signed Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract worth up to $12 million, and here's what it means for him and the team. After signing his four-year extension, Zay Flowers said he hopes Lamar Jackson stays with the Ravens equally as long.

Training Camp Battles

We picked out one important training camp battle for each NFL team as the preseason rolls on. The Cowboys cut short a planned competition, installing Tyler Guyton at starting left tackle full time with the first-team offense. Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders have spent seven camp practices focused on pre-snap and post-snap techniques in the Browns' QB competition. Jerry Jeudy said the gesture in a viral video was in reference to his daughter, not the Browns' QB competition. Josh Downs' production took a downturn in 2025, one the Colts studied and plan to remedy, and he understands his time is now with the receiving corps.

Team News and Management

Richard Haddad, who spent 14 years with the Pistons, was named president and CEO of the Lions. The Dolphins named Daniel Sillman to oversee football operations as Tom Garfinkel steps down after 13 years in that role. Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been checking in more frequently with the team during camp, but his return to the coaching staff remains unclear. The home of the Kansas City Chiefs will once again be known simply as Arrowhead Stadium.

Injuries

Texans WR Tank Dell, who missed last season after a knee injury, returned to practice Wednesday in a limited capacity. Falcons edge rusher Jalon Walker will miss the 2026 season because of a torn ACL, a huge loss for the defense. Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette suffered a stinger on a hard fall during Tuesday's practice but does not have a concussion. Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq is expected to miss time after a hernia setback from May surgery.

Player Notes

Saints wide receiver Brock Rechsteiner was suspended for the first six games of the regular season by the NFL. The Buccaneers have no plans to trade Vita Vea and still view Baker Mayfield as a franchise QB, according to GM Jason Licht. Rams coach Sean McVay said Aaron Donald looked outstanding in a workout but wouldn't say if he'll return from retirement. Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson said he can't wait to play the Texans in Week 1 after what he called "lies" from his former team. Odell Beckham Jr. cited LeBron James as a comparison for maintaining a high level of play as he impresses at Giants camp. New Eagles DE AJ Epenesa is happy he's not a Brown after his Cleveland deal fell through. Micah Parsons likes his chances of playing in Week 6 against the Cowboys at Lambeau Field. Commanders CB Ahkello Witherspoon was placed on the reserve/retired list after two stints on injured reserve last season. Eagles outside linebacker Nolan Smith Jr. apologized for his arrest for speeding and reckless driving in May. Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, who threw a punch in a team drill, was sent to a side field for the rest of practice. Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart sparked a dustup by tossing the ball at a cornerback, which did not impress coach John Harbaugh. The 49ers face questions about when Brandon Aiyuk will be released and what Deebo Samuel's role is after returning to San Francisco.
