The Chicago Bears and right tackle Darnell Wright have agreed to a significant four-year, $116 million extension, with $93 million guaranteed. This deal marks a historic moment, becoming the largest for a right tackle and setting a new record for guaranteed money for an offensive lineman in NFL history.

Wright's new contract boasts an average annual value of $29 million, placing him second among offensive tackles, just behind Laremy Tunsil's $30.1 million. A former 10th overall pick in the 2023 draft, Wright is fresh off an All-Pro season where he was a cornerstone of the Bears' offensive line, contributing to the team's third-ranked rushing attack and top-10 overall offense, which culminated in an NFC North title. Despite playing with a shoulder injury, the 24-year-old excelled, ranking fourth in the league in pass block win rate at 95.2%.

Wright had previously expressed confidence in securing an extension, stating his desire to remain with the Bears for his entire career. He emphasized his commitment to continuous improvement and consistency on the field.
