The Detroit Lions have named Richard Haddad as their new team president and CEO, succeeding Rod Wood, who is retiring ahead of the 2026 season. Haddad, a Michigan native, will officially join the organization in early September and will work closely with team owner Sheila Hamp. Wood will remain to assist with the transition.

Hamp expressed confidence in Haddad, stating, "Rich is a proven leader who understands what it means to steward an iconic sports franchise in the city of Detroit." Haddad's responsibilities will include overseeing all football and business operations, setting the vision for the Lions and Ford Field. He joins the Lions after a 14-year tenure with the Detroit Pistons, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. His past accomplishments include facilitating the Pistons' move back to Detroit and overseeing the development of their performance center.

Haddad, a lifelong Lions fan, stated, "I am thrilled to join the Detroit Lions organization as its next President and CEO." He thanked Sheila Hamp and the Ford family for their trust and acknowledged the foundation built by Hamp, Wood, Brad Holmes, and Dan Campbell. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with them to bring a championship to Detroit.
