The home of the Kansas City Chiefs will revert to being known simply as Arrowhead Stadium. The team announced Wednesday that the venue had shed its official name, GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. This change comes after the Government Employees Health Association agreed to the simplified name.

The Chiefs and GEHA had entered into a naming rights deal in 2021, which led to the previous name. However, the official moniker never gained traction with fans, and even players and coaches frequently used the original name. Arrowhead Stadium, which opened in 1972, has maintained such a strong brand identity that it was referred to as "Kansas City Stadium" during the recent World Cup matches held there.

The Chiefs will continue to play at Arrowhead Stadium until their lease concludes in 2031. Following this, they are slated to relocate to a new $3 billion domed stadium, currently under construction across the state line in Kansas. The name for this future stadium has not yet been determined.
