Eagles defensive end AJ Epenesa expressed his contentment with joining the Philadelphia Eagles, describing his previous situation with the Cleveland Browns as "weird." Epenesa, who spent his first six NFL seasons with the Buffalo Bills, initially agreed to a one-year deal with the Browns worth up to $5 million in March. However, Cleveland reportedly backed out of finalizing the contract after a physical examination.

Remaining a free agent, Epenesa eventually signed a one-year contract with the Eagles in June. "Very healthy, feeling good, and happy to be here," Epenesa stated after a recent training camp practice. He emphasized his relief at not being with the Browns and his gratitude for landing with the Eagles.

Epenesa, 27, brings a notable track record to Philadelphia. During his time with the Bills, he played in 91 games, making 19 starts. He has accumulated 24 career sacks, 53 quarterback hits, and four interceptions. A former second-round draft pick from Iowa, Epenesa joins a competitive Eagles defensive line that features players like Jonathan Greenard, Jalyx Hunt, and Nolan Smith Jr. He is eager to contribute to his new team.
