The 2026 trade deadline has passed, and the Dodgers shined while the Orioles and Brewers stumbled. Dodgers Land Skubal

Tarik Skubal didn't have his best stuff in his Los Angeles debut, landing only 51 strikes on 85 pitches, and the Dodgers offered little run support as they dropped the game to the Cubs. The two-time Cy Young Award winner said he doesn't "really sympathize with people that blame the Dodgers for anything they've done," noting that every team could trade for him. Braves Sweep Marlins

Ronald Acuña Jr. hit two home runs, including one assisted by Miami's defense, and Matt Olson added a blast as the Atlanta Braves beat the Marlins 11-3 to complete a three-game sweep. Acuña's two homers powered the Braves past Miami. The Braves faced plenty of criticism after they failed to pick up a top-line starting pitcher at the trade deadline, but Bryce Elder and Grant Holmes have pitched like they didn't need one.

Red Sox Rolling

Caleb Durbin lined a single to center field off Erick Fedde in the 13th inning to score Nick Sogard, and the Boston Red Sox rallied to beat the Chicago White Sox 12-11 on Thursday night to extend their winning streak to eight games. The Red Sox rallied to win 12-11 in 13 innings over the White Sox. Sonny Gray pitched three-hit ball and struck out eight over six innings for his AL-leading 14th victory as Boston beat the White Sox 4-0 on Wednesday night. The Red Sox acquired three-time All-Star catcher Adley Rutschman in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles, the biggest in a slew of deadline moves for Boston, and Breslow said the surging Red Sox deserved big trades. Recently acquired catcher Adley Rutschman said he's just trying to fit in with a Red Sox team that has been on a roll over the last month. Garrett Crochet, the Red Sox ace who hasn't pitched since late April because of injury, says he's open to a relief role if he's able to recover in time for the stretch run.

Phillies and Cubs Highlights

Cristopher Sanchez became the first 15-game winner in the majors this season, and the Phillies beat the Nationals 7-3 on Thursday night. Sanchez earned his fifth straight win as the Phillies topped Washington. Bryce Harper, who homered in Monday night's 6-3 win over the Washington Nationals, will soon move to right field — just for the remainder of the season — after his club swung a deal for three-time batting champion Luis Arraez. Harper is returning to the outfield amid the Phillies' shuffle for Arraez.

Pete Crow-Armstrong emerged as the favorite to win NL MVP on Wednesday after slugging two home runs in a win against the Dodgers that saw their star, Shohei Ohtani, also go deep twice. Crow-Armstrong and Ohtani wowed Wrigley Field as the Cubs swept the Dodgers. Kevin Gausman, who is expected to make his Cubs debut on Friday, said he is happy to be in Chicago. The Cubs acquired right-hander Clay Holmes and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the Mets for infielder Jefferson Rojas on Monday, bolstering their roster after injuries.

Injury Report

Joe Ryan is expected to need a stint on the injured list after an MRI on a lower-body injury revealed a mild left glute strain. Ryan is likely IL-bound with a strained glute. Reds right-hander Hunter Greene was put on the 15-day IL because of right elbow soreness. Greene returned to the IL with elbow soreness. Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing has a slight tear in the UCL in his right elbow, follow-up testing revealed, leaving his status uncertain. Nick Pivetta exited his first rehab outing Tuesday with what San Diego manager Craig Stammen later told reporters was some minor tightness in his right elbow. Pivetta abruptly exited his rehab start due to elbow issues. Trey Yesavage lasted only two innings Tuesday night before leaving his start against the Houston Astros because of left knee discomfort. Yesavage left his start early with knee discomfort. James Wood was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a left oblique strain while batting Monday night against the Phillies. Wood was placed on the IL with an oblique strain. Jordan Walker was scratched from the starting lineup Tuesday night against the Yankees because of right knee inflammation. Walker was scratched due to a knee issue. Nick Kurtz was placed on the 10-day IL with a strained thumb while left-hander Jeffrey Springs went on the 15-day IL with hip discomfort. The Athletics placed Kurtz and Springs on the IL. Triston Casas had arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist, the team announced Thursday, in the latest setback to land him on the injured list. Casas underwent surgery on his left wrist.

Roster Moves and Transactions

The Seattle Mariners released veteran catcher Mitch Garver, who appeared in 50 games this season, and outfielder Rob Refsnyder, who appeared in, among seven roster moves on Tuesday afternoon. The Mariners released Garver and Refsnyder while activating Taylor Ward. Veteran designated hitter Marcell Ozuna has been released by the Pirates. The Pirates released struggling DH Marcell Ozuna and called up Simon. Angel Genao has been called up by the Guardians, and he has a .309 average at Triple-A Columbus. The Guardians called up top prospect Angel Genao and designated Gabriel Arias for assignment. Mickey Moniak has reached a two-year extension with the Rockies. Moniak reached an extension with the Rockies through 2028. George Lombard Jr. became the third-youngest Yankee to homer in his first game, and he did it on a night when his little brother also went deep in his own professional debut. Lombard homered in his Yankee debut while joining his brother. The Royals activated Bobby Witt Jr. from the injured list Tuesday after he missed two weeks with back tightness. Witt was activated by the Royals after his injury absence. Cody Bradford will make his first start for the Rangers since the end of the 2024 season Wednesday against the Giants. Bradford is set for his first Rangers start since 2024. With the Brewers' trade-deadline acquisition of veteran starter Dustin May, rookie right-hander Brandon Sproat became the odd man out of the rotation, and the Brewers sent Sproat to Triple-A. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob de Grom, told the Texas Rangers before Monday's trade deadline that he wanted to stay with the 55-57 team, telling reporters at Globe Life Field that he wants to be here.

Suspensions and Other News

Gabe Speier was suspended three games and manager Dan Wilson one after Speier hit Detroit's Gleyber Torres with a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game. Speier and Wilson were suspended after the dust-up. Mike Krukow is stepping away from the booth after this season following a nearly four-decade run. Krukow will retire after this season. Multiple sources told ESPN that former Mets pitcher Freddy Peralta in June arranged for franchise cornerstones Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor to vent and work through their disconnected relationship. Peralta arranged a Soto-Lindor meeting. Mets rookie Jefry Yan jumped high in the air with his feet spread apart, landed on the front of the mound and then slapped the grass with his left hand while briefly going to a knee after his first strikeout. Weeks ago Ferran Torres became the second-ever substitute to score the winner in a men's World Cup final, after Germany's Mario Götze in 2014, and the Spain hero will throw out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium.
