Minnesota Twins ace Joe Ryan is likely headed to the injured list after an MRI revealed a mild left glute strain. Ryan returned to Minnesota to see the team doctor after sustaining the injury during a loss to the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.

"Encouraging that it's nothing serious," Twins manager Derek Shelton stated. "We've just got to wait and see how he feels." Shelton noted that Ryan has appeared "out of sync" and hasn't "felt right" recently, suggesting the injury might be contributing to his struggles.

The All-Star right-hander has lost his last three starts, including a outing where he allowed five runs against the Royals. Ryan's season record now stands at 6-8 with a 3.65 ERA. The Twins, currently one game behind the final AL wild-card spot, will miss Ryan as they are in the thick of the playoff race.
