Bryce Harper will move to right field for the remainder of the season after the Phillies swung a deal for Luis Arraez. Pete Crow-Armstrong emerged as the NL MVP favorite after slugging two homers against the Dodgers at Wrigley Field. Kevin Gausman is happy to be with the Cubs and will make his debut Friday after the trade. The Cubs acquired Clay Holmes and Tyrone Taylor from the Mets for infielder Jefferson Rojas.

Dodgers and Skubal

Tarik Skubal didn't have his best stuff in his Los Angeles debut, landing only 51 strikes on 85 pitches while the Dodgers offered little run support. Injury Report

Joe Ryan is expected to need a stint on the injured list after an MRI revealed a mild left glute strain. Hunter Greene was placed on the 15-day IL with right elbow soreness after making only five starts since returning. Nick Pivetta exited his rehab outing with minor tightness in his right elbow, per Padres manager Craig Stammen. Trey Yesavage lasted only two innings before leaving his start against the Astros with left knee discomfort. Jordan Walker was scratched from the Cardinals lineup with right knee inflammation. James Wood was placed on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain suffered while batting Monday. Nick Kurtz and Jeffrey Springs both landed on the injured list for the Athletics with a thumb strain and hip discomfort, respectively.

Mariners and Transactions

Gabe Speier was suspended three games and Dan Wilson one game after Speier hit Gleyber Torres with a pitch in Wednesday's game. The Mariners released Mitch Garver and Rob Refsnyder among seven roster moves on Tuesday. Marcell Ozuna was released by the Pirates after hitting just .203 with eight home runs as DH. Angel Genao was called up by the Guardians with a .309 average at Triple-A Columbus. George Lombard Jr. homered in his debut for the Yankees, becoming the third-youngest to do so while his brother also went deep. Bobby Witt Jr. was activated by the Royals after missing two weeks with back tightness. Mickey Moniak reached a two-year extension with the Rockies through 2028, hitting .277 with 18 homers. Cody Bradford will make his first start for the Rangers since the end of 2024 in his comeback from elbow surgery. Jacob deGrom told the Rangers he wants to stay with the 55-57 team, saying "I want to be here." Brandon Sproat was optioned to Triple-A after the Brewers acquired veteran starter Dustin May.

Mets and Giants

Freddy Peralta arranged for Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor to vent and work through their disconnected relationship back in June.
