The slumping Rangers entered their series opener against San Francisco on a season-worst five-game losing streak, falling out of first place in the AL West. Despite the recent setbacks, deGrom expressed confidence in the team's ability to win and reiterated his desire to help them achieve a World Series title, aligning with his initial reason for signing with Texas.

DeGrom is currently 7-7 with a 3.96 ERA in 21 starts this season. This marks the first time since his 2018 and 2019 Cy Young Award seasons with the New York Mets that he has made at least 20 starts in consecutive years. The Rangers, who last reached the playoffs in 2023, acquired him via free agency on a five-year, $185 million deal.
