Jacob deGrom struck out 9 over 5 innings Saturday night for his first win since June 30, as the Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-1 for their fourth straight win. The two-time Cy Young Award winner, who refused to waive his no-trade clause before the deadline, allowed a solo homer to Jackson Holliday and walked one while throwing 88 pitches. He now has 1,995 career strikeouts and a 1.87 ERA in seven starts vs. Baltimore.

"Probably a little bit emotional for him today," said shortstop Corey Seager, who hit a three-run homer. "Just to kind of go out there and prove why he wanted to be here... it was fun to watch." Manager Skip Schumaker added: "My goodness, he was on. Punchout after punchout, weak contact, just an unbelievable start."

The 38-year-old deGrom (8-7, 3.87 ERA) has a full no-trade clause and at least one playoff-contending team checked on his availability. He has been dealing with hip discomfort, which limited him to five innings. "We're going to be able to manage it and keep going," deGrom said. After Houston's loss, the Rangers are within half a game of the AL West lead.
