San Diego Padres right-hander Nick Pivetta abruptly walked off the mound mid-inning during his first rehab outing Tuesday, seemingly due to an injury. Pivetta, who was pitching for Class A Lake Elsinore, left the game after throwing a 2-2 fastball in the fourth inning. He had recorded two outs, throwing eight of his 14 pitches for strikes and reaching 95 mph with his fastball.

Pivetta had been on the injured list since April 14 with flexor discomfort in his right elbow, diagnosed as inflammation. The 33-year-old pitcher, who had a 13-5 record with a 2.87 ERA in 2025, was 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA this season. His contract includes clauses related to injuries and time on the injured list.

Pivetta previously spent time on the injured list in 2024 with a right elbow flexor strain. In his MLB career, he has a 70-78 record with a 4.47 ERA and 1,353 strikeouts over 1,227 innings.
