The Oakland Athletics have placed first baseman Nick Kurtz on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right thumb, marking his second stint on the IL this season for the same issue. Kurtz, the 2025 AL Rookie of the Year, has struggled since his return, managing only one hit in 18 at-bats. He holds a season average of .256 with 21 home runs and 69 RBIs.

Additionally, left-hander Jeffrey Springs has been moved to the 15-day injured list with right hip discomfort. Springs has had a challenging season, posting a 3-11 record with a 6.17 ERA. His recent performance includes an 0-11 stretch with a 7.56 ERA and 28 home runs allowed in his last 18 starts, the longest losing streak in the majors this year.

In other roster moves, the Athletics designated left-hander Ben Bowden for assignment. They also reinstated right-hander J.T. Ginn from the injured list and recalled infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A Las Vegas. Right-hander Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang cleared waivers and was outrighted to Las Vegas.
