The Athletics reinstated slugger Nick Kurtz from the 10‑day injured list before Saturday’s game in Minneapolis, slotting him in as the designated hitter batting second.

To make room on the roster, the A’s optioned infielder Max Muncy to Triple‑A Las Vegas. Kurtz, a 23‑year‑old former AL Rookie of the Year, had been sidelined since July 10 with a right thumb strain that cost him his first All‑Star appearance.

Kurtz is batting .266 with 20 home runs and 66 RBI in 92 games this season, making him a valuable offensive asset for the lineup. Muncy, also 23, appeared in just two A‑team games, going 0‑for‑3 with three strikeouts, and has played 48 games overall.

The move reflects the Athletics’ focus on maximizing performance while balancing roster flexibility amid the season’s injuries.
