Kentucky upset No. 9 Texas A&M 31-21 on Saturday in College Station, giving rookie coach Will Stein his first road victory. The Wildcats (2-1, 1-1 SEC) erupted for 21 points in the third quarter after a 7-7 halftime tie. Transfer quarterback Kenny Minchey threw two touchdowns and ran the offense efficiently, finishing 14-of-18 for 252 yards. Running back CJ Baxter added two scoring runs and 87 yards on 19 carries.

Defensive coordinator Jay Bateman, who spent the previous two seasons with the Aggies, stifled his former team. Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed completed just 26 of 49 passes for 236 yards with two interceptions, including a crucial pick by Jordan Castell at the 7-yard line late in the game.

Stein became the third first-year Kentucky coach to defeat a top-10 SEC opponent, joining Joker Phillips (2010) and John Ray (1969). The win marked Kentucky's first over a ranked foe since beating No. 6 Ole Miss in September 2024. Texas A&M coach Mike Elko took full responsibility, saying Kentucky "whopped us." The Aggies fell to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC play.
