Sonny Gray pitched three-hit ball over six innings, striking out eight, to earn his American League-leading 14th win as the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago White Sox 4-0 on Wednesday. The 36-year-old right-hander matched his career high for victories, and the Red Sox extended their winning streak to seven games, improving to 30-5 over their last 35.

Interim manager Chad Tracy praised Gray's command: "He was awesome, very locked in... Looked like vintage Sonny." Acquired from St. Louis last offseason, Gray (14-2) has a 2.78 ERA in 21 starts and tied Philadelphia's Cristopher Sánchez (14-4) for the major league lead in wins. He generated 17 swing-and-misses, including three strikeouts on third strikes.

Gray has posted 14-win seasons twice before with Oakland (2014, 2016) and went 14-8 for the Cardinals last year. After allowing nine runs over his previous two starts, he rebounded with sharp attention to detail. "Finding an edge, spinning the ball, that's who I am," Gray said. The Red Sox continue their surge behind their veteran ace.
