Seattle Mariners reliever Gabe Speier has been suspended three games for hitting Detroit's Gleyber Torres with a pitch in the eighth inning of Wednesday's game. Speier is appealing the ban. Mariners manager Dan Wilson received a one-game suspension for the incident and will serve it Thursday.

Speier entered the game in relief of Bryan Woo and, after recording two outs, hit Torres with a 96.3 mph pitch on the upper left leg. This led to an exchange between Torres and catcher Cal Raleigh, subsequently causing benches and bullpens to clear. No punches were thrown, but both Speier and Wilson were ejected.

This was Wilson's second ejection this season. The incident occurred after Mariners pitcher Bryan Woo hit three Tigers batters earlier in the game. Tigers batter Zach Mc Kinstry was hit by a pitch, and Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh was also hit by Detroit pitcher Enmanuel De Jesus.
