The Chicago Cubs are reportedly acquiring right-hander Clay Holmes and outfielder Tyrone Taylor from the New York Mets in exchange for infielder Jefferson Rojas, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan. The deal is pending medical review.

Homes, 33, has been a valuable pitcher for the Mets, known for his ground ball tendencies and low home run rate, despite missing time this season due to injury. He has a $12 million player option for 2027. Taylor, a top reserve outfielder noted for his defense, also spent time on the injured list this season and is hitting .241 with 10 home runs.

Rojas was a highly-rated Cubs prospect whose path to playing time was blocked. The Cubs also made other moves, acquiring Ryan Zeferjahn from the Angels and Braxton Garrett from the Marlins, while sending Jace Beck and Jonathon Long to Miami.
