Juan Soto, A.J. Minter and Jared Young rejoined the New York Mets on Tuesday, bolstering a roster already thinned by outfielder Tyrone Taylor’s placement on the 10‑day injured list with a right hip‑flexor strain. Soto, cleared after missing two games with an illness, slotted into the DH spot, batting third in the series finale against the Cincinnati Reds.

Young returned to first base, hitting fifth and posting a .350 average in his first 20 at‑bats after a left‑meniscus tear in April. Mendoza hinted Young may see limited outfield work as he eases back. Minter, who last pitched in April 2025 and wrestled a sore hip this month, is now eligible for high‑leverage roles, including eighth‑inning outs in one‑run games.

To add the two pitchers, the Mets optioned right‑hander Jonathan Pintaro and outfielder Nick Morabito to Triple‑A Syracuse, while recalling infielder Eric Wagaman to replace Taylor. Taylor becomes the ninth Opening‑Day starter to land on the IL, joining Francisco Alvarez, Francisco Lindor, Jorge Polanco, Luis Robert Jr., Clay Holmes and Kodai Senga. The barrage of injuries leaves the club scrambling for depth as it trails the NL East.
