Dodgers in Free Fall

The Dodgers lost their season-high seventh straight game Friday on a walk-off homer by Diamondbacks rookie Ryan Waldschmidt. Blake Snell is set to return from the injured list Tuesday against the Royals. Dalton Rushing has a slight tear in his UCL. Tarik Skubal was "plenty good" in his Dodgers debut but received little run support in a loss to the Cubs. Red Sox Riding High

The Red Sox extended their winning streak to nine games as Payton Tolle struck out a career-high 14 in a rout of the Athletics. Sonny Gray earned his AL-leading 14th win in a 4-0 shutout of the White Sox. Earlier in the week, Boston rallied for a 12-11 win in 13 innings to push the streak to eight. Garrett Crochet said he is open to a relief role if he can return from injury. Newly acquired catcher Adley Rutschman said he is trying to fit in with the rolling club. However, first baseman Triston Casas underwent arthroscopic left wrist surgery.

Chase Utley was inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame on Friday. Cristopher Sanchez became the first 15-game winner in MLB this season as the Phillies beat the Nationals 7-3. Ronald Acuña Jr. hit two homers, including one aided by a Marlins outfield flub, as Atlanta swept Miami 11-3. Twins rookie Kaelen Culpepper homered in his MLB debut to spark a comeback win. Mets rookie Jefry Yan had a viral celebration after his first career strikeout. George Lombard Jr. became the third-youngest Yankee to homer in his debut, on the same night his brother also went deep in his own professional debut. Mike Krukow announced he will retire after this season, ending a nearly four-decade run as a Giants broadcaster. Freddy Peralta arranged a meeting between Mets stars Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor to work through their disconnected relationship. Injury Updates & Transactions

Carlos Rodón will begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday as he works back from left elbow inflammation. Carson Benge left Friday's game with left wrist soreness, but X-rays were negative. Jordan Montgomery was activated by the Rangers and will pitch out of the bullpen. The Mets claimed Gabriel Arias off waivers from the Guardians, who called up top prospect Angel Genao. The White Sox recalled Edgar Quero after placing Joey Bart on the IL with a fractured finger. Twins ace Joe Ryan went on the 15-day IL with a left glute strain. Mariners reliever Gabe Speier was suspended three games and manager Dan Wilson one game for throwing at Gleyber Torres. Hunter Greene returned to the IL with right elbow soreness after only five starts since coming off. Kevin Gausman expressed happiness to be with the Cubs and will make his debut Friday. The Pirates released Marcell Ozuna, who is hitting .203, and called up a replacement. Nick Pivetta exited his first rehab outing with minor right elbow tightness.
