Kaelen Culpepper arrived in the big leagues eager to make a major contribution to the Minnesota Twins' playoff push. The 2024 first-round draft pick did just that by homering in his debut Friday night to help the Twins rally for an 8-6 victory over the MLB-leading Milwaukee Brewers.

Culpepper, one of the Twins' top prospects, connected on an 0-2 pitch from Shane Drohan for a 390-foot shot. He becomes the first Minnesota player to homer in his major league debut since Matt Wallner in 2022. Rated by MLB Pipeline as baseball's No. 29 overall prospect, the 23-year-old shortstop showed the athleticism that has made him highly touted.

His promotion comes amid roster shifts, including placing two-time All-Star Joe Ryan on the 15-day injured list due to a left glute strain. While Ryan's injury complicates postseason hopes, the Twins are hoping Culpepper's performance provides the necessary spark to continue their push.
