Twins top prospect Walker Jenkins was called up from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday and immediately inserted into Minnesota's lineup against the Chicago White Sox. Batting ninth and playing center field, the 21-year-old made his highly anticipated Major League debut. Jenkins, ranked No. 12 on ESPN insider Kiley McDaniel's 2026 MLB top 100 prospect rankings, was drafted fifth by the Twins in the 2023 amateur draft out of North Carolina.

In 69 games at Triple-A this year, he batted .308 with a .940 OPS and 17 stolen bases, including 12 home runs. To make room on the 26-man roster, the Twins optioned outfielder Alan Roden to St. Paul. Manager Derek Shelton confirmed ailing outfielder Byron Buxton avoids the injured list for now, listed as day-to-day due to right hip discomfort.
