Veteran left‑hander Jordan Montgomery was activated from the 60‑day injured list Friday by the Texas Rangers as he recovers from elbow surgery. The move comes before the opener of the Rangers’ three‑game series against Baltimore.

To clear a roster spot, right‑hander Nolan Kingham was DFA’d. Manager Skip Schumaker said the 33‑year‑old Jordan Montgomery and right‑hander Cal Quantrill will both be used as relievers for now. Quantrill’s spot will go to left‑hander Cody Bradford, who made his first start after elbow surgery.

Montgomery, a key starter in the Rangers’ 2023 World Series run, joined the club in free agency after a Tommy John surgery in 2024. In 2023 he went 4‑2 with a 2.79 ERA in 11 games and posted a 3‑1 record in the postseason, including 2 1/3 innings in Game 7 of the ALCS.

Since returning to the majors in 2024, Montgomery has gone 8‑7 with a 6.23 ERA for Arizona. Across eight seasons, his 46‑41 record and 4.03 ERA in 166 games underscore his value as a versatile arm in the Rangers’ bullpen.
