Chase Utley, the six‑time All‑Star, was inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame Friday night, a ceremony that also honored Hall of Famers Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton. Former teammate Jimmy Rollins greeted him as the third member of the 2008 World Series roster to receive the honor. Utley’s plaque now hangs in the left‑field plaza at Citizens Bank Park.

Utley gave a profanity‑free speech, reflecting on the grit required to play in Philadelphia: “You survive it. You earn it. And if you’re lucky, you grow from it.” He joked that if No. 26 isn’t worn again, he’s fine, but if someone wants it, good luck.

The former second baseman finished 13 seasons in Philadelphia with a .275 average, .823 OPS and 1,885 hits before moving to the Dodgers in 2015 and retiring in 2018. He received 59.1% of the vote in his third Hall of Fame ballot, up from 39.8%; 75% is required.

Phillies skipped their usual Friday City Connect uniforms for classic pinstripes, a change suggested by Bryce Harper. Utley praised the era, calling it “an incredible time to be a Philadelphia Phillie.”
