The Los Angeles Dodgers lost their seventh straight game Friday night, falling 4-3 to the Arizona Diamondbacks on a walk-off two-run homer by rookie Ryan Waldschmidt against closer Edwin Diaz. The two-time defending World Series champions have now dropped 10 of 16 since July 5.

Diaz struggled again, allowing the game-ending blast on a hanging slider. The 32-year-old three-time All-Star carries an 11.00 ERA over 11 outings since signing a three-year, $69 million deal in the offseason. "I've got to be better," Diaz said.

Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged Diaz's struggles since returning from the injured list July 29 but said there's no clear alternative at closer. Despite the skid, the Dodgers maintain a 7½-game lead in the NL West.

Reinforcements are coming: ace Tarik Skubal was acquired at the trade deadline, and two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell returns Tuesday. The lineup still features Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Kyle Tucker. "We've just got to play better," Roberts said.
