Dave Roberts Criticizes Dodgers' Struggles After Brewers Loss

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts called out his club after a 6-2 loss to the Brewers cost Los Angeles a key tiebreaker for home-field advantage. The Dodgers lost three of four in the series and are 5-11 in their past 16 games, including sweeps by the Red Sox and Cubs. Since July 1, the back-to-back World Series champions are 18-21.

Roberts cited inconsistent offense, noting the team totaled three runs on 11 hits and three walks in the final two games. "It's been a long time since we've been consistent offensively," he said, criticizing chase rates and lack of plan. Even Shohei Ohtani grounded into an inning-ending double play with runners on first and third.

Defensive breakdowns compounded issues. Tommy Edman committed two errors in the finale, allowing three runs. The first came on a force-out attempt; the second extended a ninth-inning rally. Roberts expressed confidence but emphasized hard work: "I don't think that's who we are."

Los Angeles holds a seven-game lead in the NL West but is jockeying with Milwaukee and Atlanta for top-two seeds to avoid wild-card rounds. Roberts hopes the series loss doesn't haunt them in October: "I hope it doesn't come back to bite us."
