Injury Updates

The injury bug continues to bite across MLB. Hunter Greene will miss the remainder of the season after opting for elbow surgery on a partially torn ligament. The Reds announced the right-hander will be out at least through 2026. The Brewers lost shortstop Cooper Pratt to a strained right hamstring, further testing their infield depth in the NL Central race. Miami’s Kyle Stowers exited Sunday’s win after tweaking his left hamstring and will undergo further evaluation. The Rays placed Griffin Jax on the 15-day IL with right elbow discomfort. Phillies ace Aaron Nola left his start Saturday after a line drive bruised his right knee. Blue Jays outfielder George Springer was a late scratch Saturday with left shoulder tightness, though the team downplayed its severity. Mets rookie Carson Benge exited Friday’s victory with left wrist soreness but X-rays came back clean. The White Sox placed catcher Joey Bart on the IL with a fractured finger, prompting the recall of Edgar Quero for another big league chance.

On the rehab front, Yankees lefty Carlos Rodón will begin a minor league rehab assignment Saturday for elbow inflammation. Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell is expected to return from the IL Tuesday against the Royals. Texas selected the contract of infielder Jonah Bride from Triple-A and optioned outfielder Alejandro Osuna. The Brewers designated right-hander Bryse Wilson for assignment and promoted Lyon Richardson to the bullpen. The Mets claimed infielder Gabriel Arias off waivers from the Guardians. The Athletics and longtime general manager David Forst mutually agreed to part ways, ending his three-decade tenure with the franchise ahead of the move to Las Vegas.

The Los Angeles Dodgers finally snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 2-1, 10-inning win over the Diamondbacks. Earlier in the week, they had lost their seventh straight on a walk-off homer by Arizona rookie Ryan Waldschmidt. The Red Sox saw their 10-game winning streak end with a 7-3 loss to the Athletics, as Red Sox failed to secure a second double-digit streak this season. Boston had been rolling behind Payton Tolle, who fanned a career-high 14 in six innings during a prior rout of the A’s.

Detroit right-hander Jackson Jobe was “electrifying” in his return from Tommy John surgery, firing five scoreless innings as the Tigers blanked San Francisco 8-0.
