The Boston Red Sox fell 7-3 to the Athletics at Fenway Park, snapping their quest for a second 10-game win streak of the season and marking the first time in franchise history that they have failed to achieve two such streaks.

Interim manager Chad Tracy said, “That we might actually win the game the way it’s gone,” and praised the effort to get the tying run to the plate, noting it was Boston’s fourth loss in its past 31 games.

Earlier the Red Sox had surged to 27 wins in a 30-game span, the only club to start a run under .500, after being 14 games under .500 on June 24 and climbing to a 64-52 record. The team’s 15-game win streak, matching the 1946 Ted Williams club, ended just two weeks earlier, and a nine-game skid followed a loss in Sacramento.

Boston has won its past nine series, including a modern MLB record 12-11 comeback over the White Sox where they scored in the final five innings. Andruw Monasterio highlighted the team’s late‑inning rally ability, saying the final out was hit “on the screws.” The victory kept the Red Sox atop the AL East despite the loss.
