Dan Wilson was fired as Seattle Mariners manager on Sunday, ending his tenure after the team's 7-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. The club announced the decision hours after the game, with Wilson stating, 'This season has been very difficult, and of course the results have not been what any of us had expected.' Wilson, 57, took over as manager in 2024 when Scott Servais was dismissed. Last season, he guided the Mariners to a 90-72 record and an American League West title, finishing third in AL Manager of the Year voting.

This season proved challenging as Seattle fell to 76-86. Mariners president Jerry Dipoto stated, 'After much discussion it was concluded that a new direction is best for 2027 and beyond.' Wilson finished with an 187-171 record and expressed hope to remain in the organization in a different capacity.
