The Raiders will give rookie Fernando Mendoza plenty of reps in Thursday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, coach Klint Kubiak said. The Vikings have named Kyler Murray their starting quarterback, a move that carries significant implications for J.J. McCarthy's future. Green Bay's Jordan Love is expected to play in the Packers' first preseason game but will remain cautious with his thumb. At Falcons camp, Tagovailoa is coming on strong while Michael Penix Jr. remains sidelined.

Injuries & Medical Updates

Myles Garrett missed a joint practice with the Cowboys due to knee swelling, while Puka Nacua also exited early for an undisclosed reason. Bears safety Coby Bryant underwent knee surgery and is expected to miss four to six months. Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori passed his physical and is cleared to come off the PUP list. Jets cornerback Qwan'tez Stiggers collapsed at practice and was transported to a hospital. Ravens cornerback Nate Wiggins was carted off with a leg injury, but coach Jesse Minter expressed optimism. Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan could miss the start of the regular season with a hamstring injury. Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce remains sidelined after ankle surgery, with no firm timeline for his return. Eagles outside linebacker Jonathan Greenard is expected to miss at least another couple of weeks due to a pectoral injury.

CBS Sports president David Berson said there is no timetable on Tony Romo's future after his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence.
