Jared Goff keeps Lions focused without distraction

Moments after an intense two-hour practice where he was chased around by Detroit Lions defenders, veteran quarterback Jared Goff chased his toddler daughter around on the same practice field on Monday afternoon. As Goff enters his 11th season, the five-time Pro Bowler has felt more appreciative of sharing these training camp moments with young Romy Isabelle and his wife, Christen. Fatherhood has helped him keep perspective that time is valuable as Detroit hopes to bounce back from a disappointing 9-8 season.

Lions coach Dan Campbell feels that Goff has grown with his "urgency" to win now, with his family routinely present throughout training camp. "It's the mentality, the urgency, the leadership. We cannot accept anything less than the best," Campbell said.

Rookie backup QB Luke Altmyer has been attentive to how detail-oriented Goff remains. "Doing things at a high level, consistently day after day. He makes the ordinary look extraordinary," Altmyer said.

Goff spent his first five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams and is heading into his sixth in Detroit. He recently joined Peyton Manning and Tom Brady as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to win 13 games in a season for multiple franchises. His focus is on helping the Lions get back on track right now.
