ESPNAug 11, 2026, 05:30 PM ET — The future of NFL analyst Tony Romo at CBS remains in flux following his arrest on suspicion of operating a vehicle while under the influence, CBS Sports president David Berson said on Tuesday. "It's an evolving situation and we are still assessing," Berson said. "There is no timetable or final decision at this time."

Romo received three citations from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office after a July 23 traffic stop. He performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The sheriff's office said Romo had an open container of alcohol in his black Jeep. Court records show Romo was later cited for refusing a test for intoxication after arrest. He was placed on leave by CBS a week later and has a court appearance set for Sept. 21.

"We have to consider the impact on our image and our brand," Berson said. "Fortunately, we have a deep bench and everybody is stepping up." CBS announced that Ross Tucker will join Ian Eagle and Evan Washburn in the No. 2 broadcast booth while analyst JJ Watt moves up to the No. 1 crew with Jim Nantz in Romo's absence.
