CBS Sports has placed NFL analyst Tony Romo on leave following his arrest last week on suspicion of driving under the influence. Romo received three citations from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office after a traffic stop on July 23. He allegedly performed poorly on sobriety tests and was taken into custody. The sheriff's office also stated Romo had an open container of alcohol and was later cited for refusing a test for intoxication after arrest.

"Tony Romo is on leave from his role at CBS Sports until further notice," the network announced. Romo, who has been CBS' lead NFL game analyst since 2017, will be replaced by J.J. Watt. Watt, a former Houston Texans player, joined CBS as a game analyst last season.

Romo's arrest stemmed from a traffic stop where he was observed passing cars in a gore area. Deputies noted signs of impairment, including red, glassy eyes and the odor of alcohol. Romo reportedly stated he was coming from a golf course and heading to visit his grandparents. A court appearance is scheduled for September 21.
