Jalen Hurts' Camp Speed Wows Eagles Defenders

Jalen Hurts' speed has been standing out at Eagles' training camp, drawing rave reviews from defenders. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said, "I think Jalen's having a good camp. I think he looks faster... there's been a few times where our guys think they had him and they really didn't." Pro Bowl DT Jalen Carter agreed, noting that while he came to camp lighter, he still struggles to catch Hurts: "It feels like I'm going slow... He be moving man."

Hurts has been a running force over six seasons, amassing 3,554 yards and 63 touchdowns on the ground. However, last season he set career lows in rushing attempts (105), yards (421), and touchdowns (8). New offensive coordinator Sean Mannion has dialed up designed runs this summer, signaling Hurts' legs remain a key part of the attack even as the offense shifts to more under-center looks. Hurts said he made no notable changes to his training and doesn't feel any different.

The quarterback, who turned 28 on August 7, is learning a brand-new scheme under Mannion. Fangio praised his movement and adaptation: "I think he's moving good, and I think he's doing a nice job with the new offense... This is different, and I think he's done a great job with it."
