Eagles OLB Greenard Out Weeks with Pec Injury

Vic Fangio, the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator, said Jonathan Greenard will miss another couple of weeks as he continues recovery from a pec injury.

Greenard was placed on the physically unable to perform list in late July after a pec strain while lifting before camp. Although the team initially called it a short‑term issue, Fangio noted that seeing Greenard practice before the season remains uncertainNous.

Philadelphia acquired the 29‑year‑old linebacker in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in April, sending two third‑round picks worth a total of $100 million in a four‑year extension that includes $50 million in guarantees. The deal reflects the Eagles’ confidence in Greenard’s ability to fill a starting role on the defense.

Greenard is expected to anchor a unit featuring Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith Jr., AJ Epenesa and Arnold Ebiketie. He posted three sacks in 12 games last season, following double‑digit sack seasons in Minnesota, and earned a Pro‑Bowl nod after a 12.5‑sack season that was cut short by a shoulder injury in 2025.
