LG has firmly denied accusations that its smart TVs continuously record users, calling the claims "misconceptions." The company stated that user privacy is a "fundamental principle" of its products. This response follows a 135-minute investigation by Gamers Nexus, Level1 Techs, and cybersecurity researchers. The report alleged that LG smart TVs could capture audio even when asleep or unplugged, and collect IP addresses, geographic locations, and nearby Wi-Fi names.

In a comprehensive statement on its website, LG clarified that its TVs do not "continuously listen to, record, or store conversations." The company specified that speech-to-text processing only begins if a user activates a voice interaction via a wake-word or remote button. LG also confirmed that voice data is not stored for later upload after disconnection. Furthermore, LG explained that features like Automatic Content Recognition, voice recognition, and interest-based advertising are optional and turned off by default.

Regarding data collection risks, LG acknowledged that no connected product is immune from security vulnerabilities, emphasizing the need for ongoing monitoring and improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
