Former Wales prop Adam Jones has shed five stone, dropping from 24st 7lb (156kg) to 19st 7lb (124kg), ahead of the Cardiff half-marathon. Inspired by an image from the 2025 Japan tour, Jones said: "I remember the camera panning to me at the end of the tour and I was massive. I thought I need to do something about this."

Jones adopted a "couch to 5k" approach, cutting out chocolate and bread while training daily. He recruited support from Wales coach Warren Gatland and fitness coach Craig White, admitting: "When I was a player, I needed to be at a certain weight. I told Gatland and Craig, 'give me a weight and I'll stick to it'."

Running in aid of St David's Hospice Care and Prostate Cymru, Jones recently completed a 17km training run—the longest of his 16-year rugby career. Harlequins players have backed his effort, with some sponsoring him. "The boys have been brilliant," Jones said.

Jones has not targeted a specific finish time. "People keep asking what time I want to get, it's more about getting around for me," he explained. "I reckon there'll be a few other 19-odd stoners knocking around the same time as me, so we'll have a little race."
