McLaren will introduce the H-Wing, its version of a rotating rear wing, at the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in Monza. The device flips 180 degrees between cornering and straight-line modes to reduce drag on high-speed circuits. After testing a prototype at the Austrian Grand Prix and a revised version in Hungarian GP FP1, the Woking team has committed to running the H-Wing on both cars. The name references the letter H in the Etihad Airways logo on the MCL40's rear wing, where the straight-mode actuator sits, echoing the 2010 F-duct named after the Vodafone logo.

Technical director Neil Houldey confirmed the team brought a new low-drag rear wing specification including the H-Wing, alongside other aerodynamic options to evaluate before qualifying. He noted there is still more performance to unlock from the MCL40 through maximizing the current package and planned upgrades. McLaren will also run a tweaked livery at Monza and the Spanish Grand Prix to promote its partnership with cryptocurrency company OKX.
