After starting the 2026 Formula 1 season strongly, Haas admits it has been overtaken and out-developed by rivals. Team boss Ayao Komatsu and driver Oliver Bearman remain hopeful the team can catch back up "soon". Haas traditionally starts seasons strong, picking up points in the first three races including a fifth-place finish for Bearman in China.

However, as the season progressed, the team struggled with inconsistency and a slower upgrade rate compared to midfield rivals Alpine and Racing Bulls. Bearman noted that while 2025 saw steady improvement, 2026 has followed the familiar Haas pattern of a strong base but inability to develop like competitors. Since the Monaco Grand Prix in June, Haas has failed to score points, struggling with an inconsistent car.

Team principal Komatsu says the team will not pivot all resources to 2027, insisting they must solve fundamental issues to maintain confidence. To develop its way out of the problem, Haas will bring new parts to the VF-26, confirming upgrades arriving this weekend in Monza for the Italian Grand Prix.
