The Green Bay Packers have hired Cam Achord as their new special teams coordinator, the team announced Friday. Achord, 39, replaces Rich Bisaccia who unexpectedly stepped down 10 days ago after four seasons with the team. The move comes as coach Matt LaFleur seeks to stabilize a unit that has struggled with costly mistakes this season.

Achord brings a Super Bowl ring and strong credentials from his time with the New England Patriots, where he served as special teams coordinator from 2020 to 2023. During that stretch, his units finished No. 1 in Rick Gosselin's annual NFL special teams rankings in 2020. That season, Gunner Olszewski earned first-team All-Pro honors as a punt returner, leading the league with a 17.3-yard average.

Achord spent the last two seasons as assistant special teams coach with the New York Giants before landing in Green Bay. He inherits a unit that has been plagued by errors, including a blocked field goal in a Week 3 loss to Cleveland, a blocked extra point returned for two points against Dallas, and a failed onside kick recovery against Chicago. While Bisaccia was popular in the locker room and held the assistant head coach title the past three years, LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst felt a change was needed to address persistent issues on special teams.
