Former Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is going through a very strict, regimented process to decide whether he wants to unretire this season, Rams head coach Sean McVay said. The veteran, who retired in March 2024 after a decade of play, is evaluating his physical readiness and the demands of an NFL season.

Donald’s retirement followed 10 NFL seasons of dominant play. The Rams’ trade for defensive end Myles Garrett in June sparked speculation about a potential comeback, with McVay noting that Donald’s decision is his own and will be made on his terms.

McVay emphasized that he will support Donald if he feels ready, stating, “We’re going to try to be able to make that happen.” He plans to monitor the player’s response to training and the body’s ability to handle the rigors of a full season.

The discussion coincided with the first day of training camp at Loyola Marymount University, where players like wide receiver Puka Nacua and left tackle Alaric Jackson are expected to participate as the Rams prepare for the upcoming season.
