Apple TV remotes can lose connection or become unresponsive due to signal loss, Bluetooth pairing issues, or low battery. Before resetting, check battery level in Settings > Remote and Devices > Remote, and replace or recharge batteries as needed. Restart the Apple TV via Settings > System > Restart to fix pairing issues.

To reset a first-gen or later Siri Remote, unplug the Apple TV for six seconds, then press TV/Control Center and Volume Down for five seconds until a disconnect message appears. Next, hold Back or Menu and Volume Up for five seconds to re-pair. For aluminum or white remotes, press Menu and Home for six seconds, then Menu and Right when the status light blinks.

Re-pairing involves pointing the remote three inches from the Apple TV and holding Back or Menu with Volume Up for five seconds. Factory reset wipes all settings and data. Check Bluetooth RSSI signal strength in Settings > Remotes and Devices > Remote (tvOS 18.0+) if issues persist.
