Nissan has unveiled its third-generation e-POWER powertrain, a sophisticated hybrid system delivering an EV-like driving experience with the reliability of a gasoline engine. Central to this evolution is the "5-in-1" modular architecture, which integrates the motor, reducer, inverter, increaser, and generator into a single unit. This design significantly improves packaging efficiency, fuel economy, and acoustic quietness.

A key technical advancement is the introduction of purpose-built engines, specifically the HR14DDe and the turbocharged ZR15DDTe. These engines feature a long-stroke design that enhances combustion stability, allowing for higher compression ratios and EGR rates. The ZR15DDTe further leverages Nissan's STARC concept and a large turbocharger to optimize airflow to the spark plug, improving ignition and overall output.

Additionally, the system incorporates silicon carbide (SiC) power semiconductors in the inverter, reducing energy loss and maximizing the utilization of generated electricity. By sharing components with Nissan's EV lineup, the third-generation e-POWER reduces part count and production costs while leveraging existing expertise to drive further electrification. This launch represents a significant step toward optimized, efficient electric-drive technology for a broader range of vehicles.
