The Houston Texans have agreed to trade starting right tackle Tytus Howard to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth-round draft pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Howard, who turns 30 in May, will receive a three-year, $63 million extension from the Browns, his agent confirmed. The trade cannot be finalized until the new league year begins March 11.

Howard has spent his entire seven-year career with the Texans, starting 93 games across multiple positions. This past season, he ranked 52nd out of 68 qualifying tackles in pass block win rate and 49th in run block win rate. The trade marks the second consecutive year the Browns and Texans have made an offensive tackle deal, following last year's midseason acquisition of Cam Robinson.

Cleveland's offensive line faces significant turnover, with only tackle Dawand Jones under contract for the 2026 season. The Browns ranked 20th in pass block win rate and 24th in run block win rate during the 2025 season. This trade signals the beginning of what's expected to be a major offensive line overhaul for Cleveland this offseason.
