Andoni Iraola's Liverpool side have now thrown away a two-goal lead in consecutive pre-season friendlies, losing 3-2 to Monaco at Anfield in the new manager's first home game. Iraola admitted his team "cannot sustain the level we want" after the defeat. Earlier, Liverpool had drawn 2-2 with Sevilla after leading 2-0. The manager remains focused on building fitness ahead of the Premier League campaign. Meanwhile, Arsenal also suffered a second straight pre-season setback, losing 3-2 to Borussia Dortmund in the Emirates Cup. Arteta called his side's defending "poor goals" after they conceded three times. Arsenal had led 2-1 but were undone by quickfire Dortmund strikes. The Gunners have now lost to Manchester United and Dortmund in the space of four days.

At the other end of the table, Manchester City are preparing for Rodri's return. Enzo Maresca said the Spain midfielder is due back next week amid speculation over his future. Barcelona are reportedly stepping up efforts to sign the City star, while Tottenham captain Cristian Romero is said to be open to joining Arsenal. Transfer Talk has the latest. Fulham have agreed a deal worth up to £30 million for Southampton midfielder Shea Charles, subject to a medical. The Fulham announcement is expected soon. Elsewhere, Everton and Crystal Palace are in talks over a swap deal involving Dwight McNeil and Brennan Johnson. The swap would see the Welsh international move to Goodison Park.

Celtic's record signing Kasper Hogh silenced critics with a first-half hat-trick as the Hoops thrashed Kilmarnock 5-1 at Rugby Park. The Danish striker earned rave reviews for his clinical finishing. Celtic fans are already falling in love with him, according to pundits. Meanwhile, Rangers suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Hibernian, with an injury-time winner from Martin Boyle leaving Derek McInnes winless as manager. The Rangers boss believes his team "aren't as bad as people think" despite the poor start. McInnes also confirmed the club rejected an offer for striker Youssef Chermiti, who was later stretchered off during the match. Rangers are reportedly working on a £4.5 million deal to sell Mohamed Diomande to Corum.

Hearts finally secured their first win under Wouter Vrancken, beating Dundee United 4-0 with three summer signings on target. The Mourinho story has been widely reported. In a separate incident, the Portuguese coach criticised Bernardo Silva's fitness levels after the summer signing returned to Real Madrid out of shape. Mourinho has demanded improvement from the midfielder. Javier Tebas has launched a fierce attack on FIFA president Gianni Infantino, claiming the "Infantino era is over" and that he is destroying the essence of football. Tebas reiterated his stance that FIFA needs reform. FIFA responded by hitting out at a concerted campaign to undermine Infantino. FIFA defended its president.

In Ligue, Paris St-Germain completed the signing of France international Lucas Digne from Aston Villa for £8.5 million. The Digne move strengthens PSG's full-back options. Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has told the club he wants to join PSG this summer, with personal terms already agreed. Torres is expected to push for a departure.
