How to change Alexa voice and personality settings

Amazon Alexa+ and Prime members can now customize their assistant with eight new voice types and several personality styles. Users can make Alexa sound Sassy, Chill, or Sweet through simple voice commands or the Alexa app under Device Settings. These changes apply device-by-device, requiring individual adjustments for each Echo in the home.

Amazon currently offers five personality options: Brief for concise answers, Chill for conversational tone, Sweet for encouragement, and Sassy with a playful, witty edge. The Sassy style includes an adults-only warning as Alexa may use colorful language. Celebrity voices like Samuel L.

Jackson and Melissa McCarthy are no longer available, having been replaced by the current customization suite. For child-friendly options, animal voices require an Amazon Kids+ subscription and English language settings. While voice and personality changes alter how responses sound, they do not affect accuracy or the wake word functionality.

Users seeking to change the wake word must do so separately through device settings. The customization options represent a shift from standard AI interactions toward more personalized, entertaining assistant experiences, though none of the changes improve Alexa's core functionality or precision.
