Amazon has blocked Meta's Muse AI agent from accessing its online shopping platform, Geek Wire reports. Users attempting to shop via Muse now see a message stating continued access violates Amazon's Conditions of Use. A Meta spokesperson confirmed Muse launched earlier this month as a "secure, private personal AI agent" capable of filling forms, sending emails, and shopping using single-use cards from Link by Stripe. Amazon claims it initially asked Meta to voluntarily exclude its site from Muse's reach, arguing third-party apps making purchases on behalf of customers should operate openly and respect service provider decisions. The company expressed frustration that Muse does not identify itself while browsing and poses privacy and security risks, including access to and retention of customer information. Meta disputes these claims, stating Muse has no visibility into passwords or payment methods and that credentials are stored securely. In an updated statement, Amazon reiterated its position, comparing the situation to food delivery apps, delivery services, and online travel agencies that coordinate with restaurants, stores, and airlines. The company has requested Meta remove Amazon from the Muse experience entirely.
