Trade Deadline Moves

The Avalanche have re-acquired forward Nazem Kadri in a trade with the Flames. Kadri won a Stanley Cup with Colorado in the 2021-22 season but left for Calgary as a free agent that offseason. The Red Wings acquired 15-year veteran defenseman Justin Faulk in a trade with the Blues. Detroit also brought back Perron in a deal with the Senators, parting with a conditional 2026 fourth-round draft pick for the forward who spent two previous seasons with the team.

Eastern Conference Activity

The Islanders acquired Brayden Schenn in a trade that sends Jonathan Drouin, two picks and a prospect back to the Blues. Schenn, had served as St. Louis' captain for the past three seasons. The Maple Leafs dealt forward Bobby McMann to the Kraken and forward Scott Laughton to the Kings ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline. The Capitals traded veteran defenseman John Carlson to the Ducks in what might be the most surprising development ahead of the deadline.

Western Conference Moves

The Kraken acquired forward Bobby McMann from the Maple Leafs and signed captain Eberle to a two-year contract extension with an average annual value of $5.5 million. The Wild traded for Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno, giving him an opportunity to play with his brother, Marcus. The Ducks and forward Ryan Poehling have agreed to a four-year, $15 million contract extension during his first season with the team.

Goaltending News

After taking calls but failing to deal goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, Florida Panthers general manager Bill Zito said the plan now is to try and get a new deal done with the 37-year-old netminder. The Sharks and goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic have agreed to a two-year contract extension. The Blue Jackets traded for Canucks forward Conor Garland as they seek their first Stanley Cup playoff berth since 2020.

Veteran Returns

Corey Perry is heading back to the Lightning after a trade from the Kings. The Sabres addressed their blueline Thursday night by trading for Jets defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn after being spurned by Blues star Colton Parayko. The Flames traded forward Nazem Kadri to the Avalanche in a swap that brings back the forward who won a Stanley Cup with Colorado.

On-Ice Incidents

Penguins forward Malkin received a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for slashing the Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin in the head. The incident occurred during a game between Pittsburgh and Buffalo, with Malkin potentially facing further discipline from the league.
