The Toronto Maple Leafs made a pair of moves before the NHL trade deadline, sending forward Bobby McMann to the Seattle Kraken for a 2027 second-round pick and 2026 fourth-round pick. Toronto also dealt veteran Scott Laughton to the Los Angeles Kings for a conditional 2026 third-round pick that becomes a second-rounder if the Kings reach the playoffs.

Both McMann and Laughton were pending unrestricted free agents, with the 29-year-old McMann having 19 goals and 32 points in 60 games this season. Toronto had been negotiating with McMann about an extension but opted to trade him after failing to reach an agreement. The Leafs acquired Laughton last year from Philadelphia at the 2025 deadline, giving up a first-round pick and prospect.

Seattle gains a versatile forward who can play top-six minutes and contribute on special teams, addressing their need for scoring depth as they cling to a wild card spot. The Kraken rank 24th in the NHL with 2.82 goals per game. Laughton heads to Los Angeles, where he'll provide bottom-six stability and physicality after the Kings traded Corey Perry earlier Friday. Toronto's sell-off began Thursday with Nicolas Roy going to Colorado for draft picks.
