The release of EA Sports' NHL 27 sparked buzz over its player facial scans, which ranged from amusing to grotesque. At the NHL/NHLPA Player Media Tour in Las Vegas, over a dozen players shared reactions.

Frank Nazar (Blackhawks) said his scan gave him a "butt-chin" and wants a re-scan. Alex Ovechkin (Capitals) got praise from teammate Tom Wilson: "The salt-and-pepper hair, that's accurate." Cover athlete Macklin Celebrini (Sharks) said, "It's not as bad as some of the others."

Matty Beniers (Kraken) called his "outrageous" for adding gray hair. Trevor Zegras (Flyers) mocked Cole Caufield's scan: "It's awful. I send it to him every day." Caufield (Canadiens) admitted, "I look like I need some sleep or some water."

Jack Hughes (Devils) said, "I don't hate it." Quinn Hughes (Wild) didn't think about it. Matt Boldy (Wild) was impressed: "It's like looking into a mirror." Leo Carlsson (Ducks) said they "did it dirty with the beard." Wyatt Johnston (Stars) accepted his mullet. Brock Boeser (Canucks) found it funny. Cale Makar (Avalanche) was evaluated by Gabriel Landeskog: "Whoa, that's intense... but it's not terrible."
