Vikings GM Structure Clarified After Teasley Hiring

Minnesota Vikings general manager Nolan Teasley has been confirmed as the final decision-maker on roster matters, according to co-owner Mark Wilf. During what was meant to be a celebration, reporters pressed Wilf about the front office structure, revealing concerns about leadership clarity following Teasley's hiring. Wilf emphasized that while Teasley has final say, he will rely heavily on coach Kevin O'Connell and executive vice president Rob Brzezinski.

The organizational structure will see both Teasley and O'Connell report directly to ownership, while Brzezinski reports to Teasley. This mirrors previous attempts by the Wilfs family to implement collaborative leadership, which has historically favored the most dominant personality. Brzezinski served as interim GM for four months this spring and interviewed twice for the permanent position before Teasley was chosen.

Teasley expressed his commitment to developing consensus between scouting, coaching, and administration, stating the team won't move forward without agreement. The Vikings' approach differs from singular leadership models like Philadelphia's Howie Roseman or Seattle's John Schneider. The structure remains unchanged despite personnel shifts, with the Wilfs continuing their collaborative approach that has defined their 21-year ownership tenure.
